PRAGUE DRINKS WINE 2019: Biggest Wine Festival in town

This festival is the largest gathering of Central European winemakers who passionately devote themselves to wine making without any chemical sprayings, additives and any unnecessary extra operations in the cellar. This 6th edition is expecting more than seventy wineries from Czech Republic and other wine regions around.   
The main theme of the upcoming vintage will be wines produced in kvevri, in traditional Georgian earthenware vessels. Therefore, you’ll have the chance to meet some leading Georgian winemakers and compare their Georgian wines with the Moravian ones prepared in the same, ancient way.
The Prague Drinks Wine 2019 Festival will be held on Friday, May 24 (1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) and Saturday, May 25 (11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) 2019 in the historic premises of the New Town Hall on Charles Square in Prague. 
Price for a full-day (790 Czk) or two-day admission ticket (1290 Czek)  includes a glass and unlimited wine tasting.

Farmers’ Market at Jiřák, in the wine quarter of Prague

The farmers’ market on Jiřího z Poděbrad square is one of the most popular in Prague and our favorite one as it is located in Vinohrady area!  
In the stands under the shady trees in the park, near to a unique church by Josip Plečnik, visitors can purchase products from Czech farms. Selling everything from potatoes freshly dug up, cheese and fresh milk products, newly-baked traditional goodies such as kolacky or babovka, to free-range eggs and chicken, organic beef, fish, pork, to a wide array of seasonal vegetables, herbs, and plants- even including household plants or geraniums to jazz-up your window or balcony, this local farmers market is a great way to get to learn about Czech food culture, or find some excellent imports such as Hungarian specialties like klobasa and paprika, Spanish olive oils, hot Balkan food to eat on the spot, or the freshest of fish from Croatia . Of course, you’ll get the chance to taste local wines.
The sellers often rotate locations on a weekly or daily basis between other markets, so you’ll always find something new. The market is great for all ages. On top of that, there are great cafés around where you can relax on the terrace watching shoppers and famers discussing about cooking recipes!

Farmer’s Markets at Naplavka, on the river bank

In the nine previous seasons, the number of dealerships has quadrupled. It started with only 28 stalls and now has grown to a regular 90-100 stalls. Inspiration came from both Germany and the USA. “Farmers were hesitant at first. But the water court allows them to add a cool cart, which is important for fresh food, vegetables and herbs. From the beginning, the organizers aimed to create not only a place with quality farm products but also a space for neighboring meetings. “The goal of this marketplace is to serve Prague and the farmers.
Located on the riverbank walk, you can stroll through market stalls while enjoying the sun, cooled by the breeze off the Vltava river. Boasting views of Prague Castle, Petřín Hill, and situated just a few blocks from the famous Dancing House, this location is perfect for residents and tourists alike. From March 2019, the market for hot drinks in the “Turn Pot” system continues, which can be returned to customers in any of the cafe’s involved. Beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages are poured into a glass, into reusable cups or in containers that customers will bring.
